Tim Shaw

English born and educated, Tim has been a practising glass artist all his working life. He has recently taught in the UK, Turkey, South Africa and Swaziland. He has exhibited regularly over the past decade, both nationally and internationally, notably at Collect 2011 London, and SOFA Chicago.

Tim has built many hot glass studios, his current one being nestled in the stringy bark forests of the Adelaide Hills.

Tim is best known for his ‘Slash and Cut’ Series, where he cold carves blown forms to sculpt the surface of the glass. This radical approach to creating glass sculpture, results in works that are steeped in raw energy, yet possess a refined elegance. This balance between form and fragility, transparency, light, colour and surface texture allow Tim to create objects that are uniquely beautiful.

He has twice been a finalist in the Ranamok Glass Prize and his work in collected both overseas and in Australia.
