30/30

The Glass Artists’ Gallery is Australia’s foremost contemporary glass gallery, established in 1982. The Gallery has played a pivotal role in establishing the national and international reputation of many Australian and New Zealand contemporary artists working in glass. The prime purpose of the Gallery continues to promote contemporary studio glass on all levels.

Australian and New Zealand contemporary glass is internationally acclaimed. In 1991 the Gallery was selected to initiate the Craft Export Program, exhibiting at Chicago New Art Forms, later to become SOFA. Maureen Cahill, the director of the Glass Artists’ Gallery together with Andy Plummer, established the Ranamok Glass Prize in 1994 to raise the public profile of Australian and New Zealand contemporary artists working in glass.

The 30/30 Celebration exhibition highlights milestones with some of our artists represented by the Gallery over the past 30 years.
